vOLUNTEERS
In this page Yayasan Cipta Mandiris’ goals are to give life skills to those young people who want to change and improve themselves. Therefore to help achieve this we build strong relationships with several organisations to get volunteers from big countries such as Australia and Germany. Those volunteers, as native speakers, can help us all to improve the English learning and to share their experiences and knowledge. These volunteers help the students to practice their English skills, give them confidence to interact with foreigners, and give them a view about what it is like to live in other countries by sharing their life experiences.
Currently we have four volunteers. Two volunteers are from the AFS program in Germany; Jacsha Gruebel and Stefan Schmidt (since August 2009), one Australian volunteer from the VIDA program, Jennifer Owens (since October 2009), and one Autralian volunteers from the AYAD program, James Maiden (since April 2010).
Before them, we also had several volunteers: Elder Bikker & his wife, Elder Keane & his wife, Alexandra Engel (Australian AYAD), Trutz Zury von Klodt(from Germany), Ellen Harte (from Germany), Mrs. Sally Letcher (from Australia), Edwina Reid, and Rebecca Lewis from Australia and some others who we apologize for not mentioning here, but are very grateful for your generous time. They have all given big contributions to our development in order to achieve our goals.
We could not be who we are today without these volunteers, so therefore many thanks to them and we will definitely miss them even when we are miles apart. They will not be forgotten. We hope we can continue this bonding with all the foreign foundations so they can send us volunteers to improve and develop our programs and achieve our goals.

My name is Stefan and I am 20 years old. I have been volunteering in YCM for six months now and will stay here for another five. This place is really awesome. The students are very motivated and the whole atmosphere is very inspiring. I could not be in a better project. What I especially like is that in YCM students get a broader view and learn about tolerance. It is really great when you can see progress in students and when some can even further their education in another place because of the skills they learnt in YCM!

| I arrived in Indonesia in October 2009 as a Volunteer for International Development Australia (VIDA) here at YCM. From the first minute I arrived I fell in love with the place, it’s so special: the students, the creativity, the energy, the concept!
My role is to support and enhance the behind the scenes running of things, develop and find suitable resources, and support the tutors in their professional development. We have fortnightly tutor workshops where we share together, learn some new information and topics, and challenge ourselves to strive for more and be an example of a leaders for our students.
I love being able to work here and living in Bogor is great, and I’m happy to be here until April 2011.

I had been with the YCM for roughly one year. Within this year I learnt to love the open atmosphere of this thrilling place. You see young people willing to change their chances in life by actively learning and even further, you can help them to reach their goal. No matter if you spent some time with the elementary students, high school students or the one's who never finished formal education, all of them have a beautiful, sometimes sad story which makes you appreciate the work of YCM even more. I took pride in working here and I hope to come back some time soon!
